I'll be the first to say that going to see a Gastroenterology doctor for a procedure ranks way below having to go to the dentist. However, Dr. Balasekaran and his staff are welcoming and wonderful people.
I work at a medical office and understand that a case can be complicated and cause the rest of the day to run late. Unfortunately, we are several generations of instant gratification. So, If he's running behind, believe me, there is a good reason.
This is the best Doctor,he's not about the money, he saved me several thousand dollars and I recommend anyone to go to him.His staff are welcoming and very helpful, thanks to the Doctor and all his staff.

Dr. is knowledgeable, and staff is friendly in person, however the messages to nurse are not returned. Follow up does not take place. I had a referral and it took me a month of being in pain to finally get a real person on the phone to make appointments. Tests were run, and no one every called me back with the results.
I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to see Dr Balasekaran. I seen him several times with acute pain and bile duct problems. I begged him to help me because the pain was so severe. I actually heard him outside the examine room laughing with his nurse while reviewing my chart. Talking about how there would be no way I could have anything chronic going on causing pain. He treated me very poorly and spent only about 5 minutes with me and threw his hands in the air saying he wouldn't do anything else for me. He wouldn't refer me so I took it apon myself to get further testing. I seen Dr Wells from mercy who is by far the best GI doc I have ever seen. After seeing him and getting a referal I was Diagnosed with Sphincter of Odi dysfunction and Chronic Pancreatitis. Which Dr B said surly wasn't possible. Instead of throwing on the towel he could have at least referred me he let me walk out of his office with bad pain and duct problems with no solution. If you want a good doctor see Dr Robert Wells from Mercy.
I believe Dr. Balasekaren has probably saved my wife's life. First his office got her in very quickly when an appointment was requested for an ERCP after a suspicious result from an ultrasound. He found no evidence of cancer at that time but placed a stint which gave my wife immediate relief from her symptoms. Six weeks later he scheduled her to remove the stint, we now know partially because he wanted another look. At that time he did see what he thought might be cancer and did biopsies and ordered a CT scan which revealed that she did have pancreatic cancer which is a very dangerous disease but which has fortunately been diagnosed quite early thanks to Dr. Balasekaran.
